The result of a piece of jewelry millefiori is obtained by the fusion of rods of multicolored glass, juxtaposed in a specific order in a table with sections that repeat the same regular pattern (rose, fleurette, star, etc). This combination itself stretched in wand, may in turn enter into new combinations more and more complicated and so on so as to form a kind of mosaic adorned. Glass millefiori is worked in hot as the parison ordinary, by blow moulding or by casting. The sections of the rods are sometimes covered in a mass of colourless glass. This process allows endless decorative effects, was already known to the verriers gallo-romans ; it was brought to its perfection, to the xv^e and xvi^e centuries, by the Venetians in their famous glass factories of Murano, whose works will be everywhere imitated.
